Harvard Square Vigil to mark the 4th Anniversary of the Iraq War

Dear CPers,
MoveOn officially cancelled the vigil, but word was out already. The 5:30 time is listed on UJP update emails. My co-host and I had already handed out info last Wednesday. What I would like to do therefore is still have a presence at Harvard Square. There's still NO conflict with the Longfellow action (6:30): anyone going there from the Square area (or heading inbound from farther out on the Red Line) can participate and jump on the T: the site is at the main entrance.

Join us on July 4th in Cambridge for the

Troops Home Fast!

Gather at 2pm
Across from the Fireworks Barge
Memorial Drive, Cambridge

In the words of our fantastic organizer, Trish:
On July 4th, 2006, the national Code Pink will launch an historic hunger strike called TROOPS HOME FAST in Washington, D.C. in front of the White House. While many Americans will be expressing their patriotism via barbeques and fireworks, they'll be fasting in memory of the dead and wounded, and calling for the troops to come home from Iraq. We're inviting people around the world to show their support for this open-ended fast by fasting for at least one day. Go to www.troopshomefast.org to learn more.

Code Pink Boston will be participating in the TROOPS HOME FAST both in solidarity with those who are fasting in DC and all across the country and to show the world that people in Boston are against the war.

Boston Code Pink will be combining fasting with world class fireworks and a (piped in) Boston Pops concert! We will meet at 2pm on Memorial Drive, Cambridge [Kendall Sq. T stop, head toward the Charles River, look for the fireworks barge and the Code Pink banner]. This will strategically position us for both a front row seat for the fireworks and a chance to interact with the huge crowd that will be gathering for the event.

Please join us! Those who want to fast that day are welcome to and those who don't are welcome not to! We'll all be in the PINK and be great support for one another.

Warning – you must be there by 3pm to sit with the group at the railing – it gets pretty crowded and our neighbors will not be happy about accommodating latecomers!

Please contact us at codepinkboston@gmail.com for more information!

Happy 2006!

I'm sorry I've been kind of sitting on this, but last month we set up an events calendar (we'll use this one, at least temporarily) for CODEPINK Boston! You can find the calendar at:

http://freecal.brownbearsw.com/codepinkboston

and anyone is allowed to post events on there! We are still looking into ways to distinguish CODEPINK events from general activist events, and more detailed instructions on how to post will be coming soon. For now, though, just take a look around (and post an event, if you are feeling brave!).

12.06.05
